Army Run Pacers: Andy best in 5k, Pat, Kiza awesome in half

Postby canalrunner » Tue Sep 22, 2015 7:46 am

Another great Army Run with perfect weather and Folkfest for warm up and cool down. Absolutely perfect. The Pacers had fun and as usual I like to let folks know how we performed ala the Auditor-General in a post race Pacer Report. I also had a couple of RMers helping me out (Andy, Pat and Kiza) with Andy being the pacer closest to his time in the 5k. Time is only metric but it is one people focus on so here it is:

In the 5k event, 5 out 7 pacers were within 30 seconds of their times. Andy Fong was the closest to his time coming with .1 sec of his 30 minute time. In the half marathon event, 25 out of 32 pacers were within 30 seconds of their time, and 28 out of the 32 were within a minute. There was magic happening at the 1:40 pace time as both pacers were within 1 second of the time.. Absolutely every one of the 39 pacers in the two events were within 1 minute 30 seconds of their time. Thought that was impressive especially in the half where I think a couple of kilometer markers went missing and others seemed a bit off (at least for me) Also special mention to one of the 2:15 pacers who not only came within 5 seconds of his time, but ran with and verified a Guiness book of world record run for a half marathon wearing a gas mask (nice multitasking)
Great weekend with the rain handling the humidity and things cooling down for the race. Throw in some Van Morrison on Friday night and I certainly would want to have more Days Like This.

I ran with the 1:40 bunnies and while I finished about 8 seconds behind them (and thus 6 seconds or so above my goal), they were great. This was at least the second PB one has led me to at this race! (he's paced 1:45 before).

Thank you!

Your 2:15 bunnies were fantastic. They were very encouraging and kept me moving through a last *tough* 7k. I came in 9 seconds ahead of goal time cause they were slightly ahead of schedule and let all their followers pass before the mats. I was about 50-100 m behind them heading into the finish chute so this buffer was fantastic.

Great job, Bunnies!
