Gels?

Postby Monte » Wed Dec 20, 2017 12:18 am

Where do you buy Gels in Canada and what do you recommend ?
I want to give them a try on my long training runs and try to find something that will agree with me and get used to them before using in an actual race.

What do you all use?

I buy my gels at my local independent running store, but The Running Room is a common store to get gels at.

For gels, it all comes down to personal preference and how your stomach tolerates them. I find that some brands give me GI (stomach) upset. It is usually recommended to try one brand at a time, as it makes it easier to figure out if a particular brand bothers you.

Different brands have different consistency as wel, some are thicker and some thinner. They also come in a crazy amount of flavours, again down to personal preference.

MEC has the best prices.

My favourite are Clif shots, usually.

I never think of MEC for gels. I love the store, but we only have one and it not close to me.

It's worth a trip to stock up. The prices are dramatically better.

Spend $50 and shipping is free.

Thanks for the info...Back when I ran there was no such thing...or at least not packaged and sold the way they are now.
