The weather sounds particularly nasty this year.
Hope Gary does well!
I'll be checking in with twitter #BM100

I loved the video of the start. Grizzly Adams fires up a smoke and the race begins.

Yeah the weather/conditions make it pretty bloody unlikely anyone finishes this year...

I wouldn't be so sure! Gary trains in conditions like that all winter.

He was first finishing loop! Go gary!!

The Real Keith
@keithdunn
At 23:05:35 Gary Robbins finishes loop two. #BM100

8:40 AM - 25 Mar 2018

60 hours, 5 loops, ~12h/loop... but last year he finished lap 2 at 20h18. So quite a bit behind the pace he needs I think.

https://twitter.com/keithdunn <-- best place I've found for updates.
https://twitter.com/CanadianRunning <-- also pretty good, and they're "us"! :)

Or search on #BM100 on Twitter (but lots of noise there)

Wow, that's a huge difference between the two loops-- sounds like the conditions were really terrible.
Interesting to follow, but the updates are pretty scarce-- and according to keith, "And there are many in camp who believe even Twitter is too much. The race is for the runners, not spectators. Plenty of time after the fact to get reports."

Yeah all the hand wringing about the popularity of the event gets pretty annoying after awhile. It's like watching Kurt Cobain interviews.

So looks like only 3 runners made the cutoff to start lap 3 and still be eligible for the full 100...
Gary
Ally Heaven
Guillaume Calmattes

The last two started loop 3 at 23:58... cut it a little fine.

Valery Caussarieu, the first French runner ever to begin loop three, quits loop three withou getting a book. The French record remains two loops. #BM100

^^^ Keith on Twitter

He had started late, though, so was only eligible for the "fun run".

4 runners left - 1 on the "fun run", 3 still mathematically in contention for the 100...

Two runners left: Gary and Guillaume.
Both on lap 3.
Everyone else is out.

36h cutoff to start lap 4 coming up in a few minutes... no sign of the two runners.
Seems over. Nobody is going to finish this year. Maybe fun run.

Over.

At 36 hours two runners are on loop three. Neither runner is eligible to continue to loop four. #BM100

Conditions just too bad.

That's insane. The course that eats its young.

I just watched "Where dreams go to die." Highly recommended. Seems they will need to make a sequel now.
