A place for keys and ID while running?

Postby Cheermidget » Wed Aug 10, 2005 3:03 pm

So that ID bracelet post got me thinking....

When I go for runs, my shorts don't always have pockets and I almost always have to carry my student card (to get into my lab) and/or keys (to get into my lab or apartment). I'm not a big fan of running with bulky fanny packs or anything like that, so does anyone know where I can get a not-so-expensive (key words here) little pouch I can attach onto my shoe or wrist or something like that?

Thanks!

I made a little mesh pocket. And installed it in the inside of my waistline. I had thought about a velcro seal, but thats too much work and beyond the skills for this guy. I haven't lost nothing yet.

The Running Room (and most other running stores) have something called a "Amphpod" that you can fit on the inside/outside of your shorts .... Has enough room for id, change, keys, etc... I believe they are like $20.00 or less ... andy :) Peace !!!

I vote for the Amphipod. It's small, discreet... it's fabulous!

No chafing, no jiggling.

I've seen a few manufacturers (Nike among them) who sell armband-style pockets. They're pretty much exactly like the armband mp3 holders, only with a full-zipper and no hole for a headphone cord.

Yep, I got one of those too  but, not very much room to put much in except some money/change, keys, etc....

Amphipod all the way... Big enough to hold keys, change & my Starbuck Card. It clips securely, does not rub/chafe & has a clip for your sunglasses 8) too.

I second and third the Amphipod suggestion, but here's a tip....

You don't have to stick with the basic black sold by the Running Room.

The thing comes in about a dozen different colours.

Paragon Sports has them in New York, which is where I bought a
red one. You could order online.

Very handy if you're like me, and tend to lose expensive black clothing
items at the bottom of dark gym bags.

Thanks for all the suggestions...the amphipod sounds like the clear winner!

Jocelyn: lol...thanks for the tip, but I probably won't find that too comfortable (lack of..uh..bustage)

I used to tuck my ID card and keys into my shorts waistband, but it's never a good feeling when they start creeping down your leg during the run! :?

I have a little running wallet thing that straps onto my shoe. it has a velcro strap that you attach under the laces, then it loops over the wallet and secures it in place. i think i have seen them at the running room as wel, but i got mine at a local store, Aerobics First. It's pretty small, all i carry in it is ID, some cash, and sometimes my keys, although i find it a bit hard to squeeze the keys in as i have too many keys on my key ring. it works well for me, but if you need more room in it, it won't work. it was only $7.
