You can view national Sport Chek prices at their website. The site is sometimes slow. http://www.sportchek.ca/vertical_footwe ... d=24200010
Please note that Sport Chek staff are not always knowledgable on running products. If you buy shoes from them, you should know what you are buying. Their return policy isn't as good as those from specialty stores.
Oh it feels so good to post links to stores..

Yeah, I would just be buying the same model that I've been using.

sure, though it may be quicker to look on their site, since I probably won't make it down until Friday.

My daughter and I just returned from Sport Chek. We went in looking for high top Converse shoes in pink/brown colour combo. Looked around and only saw them in pink. Asked sales clerk and she said they only came in solid pink in ladies or solid brown for men. We told her that we had seen this combo in the flyer and in another Sport Chek. She said we must be mistaken, are we sure we didn't see it in Sport Mart? Started looking at some other shoes and asked a different sales clerk if that particular style sized differently. It seems the size 5 fit my daughter when she normally wears a size 8 ladies. The clerk said "I have no idea" and walked away. I was not impressed to say the least. My daughter and I decided to leave the store when all of a sudden my daughter spied the exact Converse shoes she was looking for on a display (right across from the sales counter). We ended up buying the shoes, but I do not think I would ever buy proper running shoes at a store like this unless I knew before hand exactly what type I needed.

As far as I am concerned, I would rather go to RR to buy my shoes even if it is a bit cheaper somewhere else just for teh service.
I am an Asics Cumulus kind of guy using orthotics. I just purchased a pair 2 weeks ago and mentionned some of the problems that I had with my LSD. The saleman suggested that I purchased a pair 1/2 size larger since my feet were probably swelling after 20 or so km. And voila, my last 2 LSD were done with no foot problems whatsoever.
I like that kind of service and I am willing to pay for it.

Sure, but if I already know exactly what I want, then I'd rather get the airmiles and the lower price. I'll go to a specialty store (not necessarily RR) when I'm not sure what I need/want. :)

I'm finding that I need to know ahead of time what I want, no matter where I buy my running shoes. I bought my last pair at a New Balance store here in TO, and the salesman there was 'less than enthusiastic'. The RR in my neighbourhood is on its 6th manager in the past 3 years, and the sales staff there might as well be selling stereos. All I see them do is read product info to customers off the sides of boxes. (I'm not really knocking them personally - you're not gonna get product experts for $8/hr). There's a specialty store in the Beach called Endurosport that I keep meaning to try, but they seem to keep shorter hours so it just hasn't worked out.
Thank goodness for running forums so I can get the lowdown on products.

Dave if you are ever visiting, the RR at Yonge & Eglinton, has relatively good staff. Just bring your old shoes with you, and they should help you get fitted.
Endurosport is a great store, but they are geared for the Dark Side. So, they probably wouldn't be great at shoes. But, thats just conjecture on my part. They are a well run shop, and I've bough tri gear there, but never shoes.
