Race Day = an early wakeup, even early since I hardly slept   :D

I'm looking forward to seeing some Maniac friends today and that fantastic meal AFTER the race.

I've a feeling I'll be the only one Nordic Walking - me & my poles may get some strange looks but what the heck

Have a good one everbody - catch you later :D :D :D

I'm up early to race as well! I'm doing the Winterman Marathon Relay with a team of 8 - so just 5 km for me. The plan is to do my long run after the race at the museum. Seems like there is a bit of snow on the ground, so we'll see what the course conditions are like.

Visit with a friend this afternoon and then swimming tonight.

How do you find the motivation to do a long run after a race? Regardless of the distance I always succomb to the eat/sleep urge.

Good luck racers!

Rest day for me, although my son woke me up at 6:30 wanting to play Wii Fit, so it's sort of strength and flexibility training this morning.
2009 Highlights
Marathon - 2:54:05 (Mar 22 - Tokyo)
Half - 1:20:00 (Apr 26 - Hartwell)
5k - 17:09 (Acura 5k - Jul 19)
800m - 2:16.80 (York U - Jul 28 )
Now - Getting back my running fitness
My training log

Why practice running slow? It comes naturally!

"There are two types of injuries that we older runners get: those that we can run with and those that we can't. And if you're over 30 and don't have one or the other, you aren't training hard enough." - Younger Legs blog

Good luck to all racers today! Will be checking for all those race reports later on.

Rejoining the half marathon group after running with the fulls for the past month. Nice time to rejoin as it's a reduced mileage week. Good timing for that after racing the half last weekend.
So it's 7 miles for today.
On the books for 2017:

Run for Water 10K- May 28th

Run Strong Racers.

Insanely tough run this morning - really poor footing, snow, slush and wind - 28.75km in 2:31:40. Recovery time.

Good luck to all the racers!

1h run done in High Park and along the water. I should have stuck to the waterfront despite the strong winds. The waterfont path was completely clear, but there was still some slushy snow in the park paths despite the fact that they had been recently ploughed. My legs don't like slush.
I run because it's fun.

I was unfortunately a DNS today. We left Guelph at 6 AM and got just to the outskirts of town and the roads were too unsafe to keep going. So, we went back to Guelph to my parent's place for a few more hours and then headed back to Toronto. Kind of a sad way to start the race season but you get what you get. So, I will either enjoy the rest, or hop on the treadmill for a bit.

Slow 27K; not much energy today, but I suppose that's to be expected after the highest mileage week of the cycle.

My brother, sister-in-law and nephew will be in Kihei in approximately 6 hours :) Sooo jealous of you all!

I got up at 3:45am today to drive said brother and family to the airport. Then I went to Tim Hortons for breakfast - amazing how many people are there at 5:30 am. Following that hit the pool for 2,400m :) My longest swim in a long time and I could have kept going. Felt fabulous. I was pretty tired at the end and came home to sleep for a couple of hours. Now waiting for a friend to arrive and we are heading to the dog park with four doggies. This evening = oscars :)!

I run because it's my passion, and not just a sport. Every time I walk out the door, I know why I'm going where I'm going and I'm already focused on that special place where I find my peace and solitude. Running, to me, is more than just a physical exercise...it's a consistent reward for victory!

98 minutes on the trainer done - why, oh why didn't I stay on for another 2 minutes? :? A bit of lunch, and now out for a 5K run... I doubt there will be buses splashing me with slush, but there may be the odd snowmobiler on my heels! :D

Ironing and Nascar later!
