Good lists on here...

The only song I would asdd which is A MUST for any run is:

Don't Stop Runnin' - Y&T

I could listen to that song on repeat for a run and never stop! :D

I love that trick daddy one for pre-race, to get me psyched.

I am LOVING the new Keri Hilson/Kanye West song "Knocks you down".
I also love running to "Boom Boom Pow" by Black Eyed Peas, and it's been a year but still that "Paper Planes" song by MIA throws me into the most relaxed running stride ever! I also love "Beggin" by Madcon (remake of an older song). However I often find myself wanting to sing along, so it's more of a long run/steady state run song than a race song!

I've been wanting this song ever since I first heard it in the movie "Stomp the Yard". Excellent song.

I've recently downloaded from a Kia Soul commercial "Do What I Do" by Marz. Very 8) song.

Was going through some old downloads and came across a bunch of my favorite early 90's hip-hop & house. I'm going to put a bunch of it together & see how that works..

Jungle Brothers - Can I kick it?
Q Tip - Vivrant Thing
De La Soul, Jungle Brothers, Tribe Called Quest - Buddy
Jungle Brothers - I'll House You
Digable Planets - Rebirth of the Slick
3rd Bass - Pop goes the Weasle
Stetsasonic - All that Jazz
PM Dawn - Night & Day
Dream Warriors - My Definition of a Boombastic Jazz Style
KEEP GOING, NEVER GIVE UP: Spencer D

Hey, be careful around me, apparently I'm a chronically offended kind of person... ;)

I have found some great tracks to test drive; thanks for the new ideas. In reading through the suggestions I have come to the conclusion that my playlist is far too embarrassing and lame for public distribution, even under a cloak of anonymity.

I do, however, like to make silly little running playlists with themes. My latest compilation is "The Top 20 TV Theme Songs for Runners".

That's a great list!

Let me suggest:

- if you like the Mary Tyler Moore theme song, check out the Husker Du version

- if you like the Malcolm theme song, you'd probably like a lot of what TMBG does.

- The theme from the first season of Monk was better (Jeff Beal) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4VV8p0fyhrM

I totally forgot about the original Monk theme song, which I loved.

I'll check out the others as well, thanks for the tips.

I have the new Ben Harper album on my ipod (White Lies for Dark Times), and just for something different I ran to it today. The song "Shimmer and Shine" is a great running song!

Also I rediscovered how great Rage Against the Machine is, and have once again moved a bunch of their songs onto my running list. "Bullet in the Head" is great, as are "Testify" and "Sleep now in the fire". Oh and of COURSE, "Killing in the name of".

I also just downloaded "The Fixer" by Pearl Jam. I also heard a new Weezer song on the radio the other day called "I want you to" and I got that one too!

Great list- that "Don't Stop Believin'" is the perfect epitome of 80s cheesy rock, but for some reason, yeah, it'll get you going!

I just put "How I could just kill a man" by Rage on my ipod, and I moved the Foofighters "Monkey Wrench" and an old classic "Get Low" by Lil Jon over too. It got me through mile 25 of the 2005 Detroit marathon. Also I got the new Jay-Z song "Run This Town"- it's not super upbeat, but the beat is runnable.

On our way downtown last night "Can I get a" by Jay-Z came on the radio- old school! :) I downloaded it today and it is a GREAT running song! Very vulgar though.

Jet Horns - I Was Once A Glass Of Tang
Good upbeat tune for running.

Chris Cornell - "Watch Out": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKFArxS949U

The chorus works great for interval runs.
