The toughest part can be the loose stones. They can be a problem on the sharp downhill turns at the bottom by the gate and again at the left hand turn towards the Navy base. Also on the whole of the "up" hill. In the past they have graded the course beforehand which only made the stones looser and harder to run on. I usually run on the grass next to the path on that steep uphill. It's easier.

Great race.

Another one of Ottawa's faster races, run in mid August. The run is in the Arboretum of Ottawa's Experiemental Farm. A three loop course, along some nice scenic paths. The race has a pretty good following, with some of Ottawa's faster runners coming out for the event. It's a 6pm start, so you might have to adjust some things to be race ready.

However there was some complications with this run. The fact that it is a three loop course, made it very congested. After your first lap, you might have to start screaming to have people move out of your way. Hense, DON'T WEAR HEADPHONES!!

There is also one hill, that you climb three times. And it's pretty steep, but not too long. Keep in mind that the final hill comes late in the lap, so be prepared for it, and adjust your pace, so that you have some gas left to power on after.
