Sydenham Fall 5k Fun Run (Sydenham, Ontario)

On Sunday November 13th of this year I attended the Sydenham Fall 5km Fun Run obviously at Sydenham Ontario. This being the first race here attendance was great with about 92 enthusiastic persons in attendance. Although I haven't attended hundreds of these events around the county being that I am new to this, I found this to be one of the most enjoyable ones yet.
What a lovely spot for a race. The course, which was a loop back, ran along the shores of Sydenham Lake (pretty I am sure at any time of the year) with the majority of it ran on the Cataraqui Trail. The track was smooth and the view awesome. There was a slight breeze when we started under bright sunshine which grew as the race progressed. But it certainly was not a cold day by any means. Very refreshing.
Our race Derrick Spafford of Spafford Health and Adventure (although he was hobbling around on crutches) was full of energy and had everything in place to make this event a tremendous success.
The post race goodies were fantastic offering muffins, donuts, bagels, tubes, bananas, coffee and a whole bunch of baked goods from the local bakery and loads of prizes. Even though there was a computer problem at the race itself, the race results and pictures were posted at an amazing speed.
I would like to thank Derrick and his race crew for giving me such an enjoyable day and I look forward to your next event and I will certainly look for your workshops and in particular the one on Trail Running at Frontenac Park.
Thank you again.
