That's a great idea. Think of all the new guys you could recruit to the sport.
Wives would be pushing them into it. Get out there and train and don't forget to bring your training partner.

I'm glad you liked it.
I am a little curious to know how what the time differences would be if the Kid were to ride the racing bike and the reporter were to ride the other bikes.

Is your performance about You or your Bike
This a fun video that gives you a little perspective. http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/bike-blog/video/2013/jul/17/man-v-bike-video" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; BTW I think I read that the Bixi Bike, they call it the Boris Bike were built at a cost of $3000.00 or $3,500.00 each.

Re: Runners with Pacemakers
I don't wear a pacemaker but I do have a low resting heart rate. It's a long story. Luckily I have a friend who is a cardiologist so when I started struggling to catch my breath after exertion, and I knew that my heart rate was still not very high, I asked her what she thought. They tested me for ev...

I was finally able to track down a copy of this book and find the time to read it.
It's a quick easy read and I have to say I very much enjoyed it. Well worth the time.

Wow!
I thought it was a fantastic show.
As a (relatively speaking) sedentary example of the Human Species I found this ennobling.
Clearly I am capable of more.

I contacted The Aging Muscle Diagnostic Lab at McGill offering to be a Guinea Pig for them in hopes of getting some more information on the subject.
They said they would contact me next week.
Can you think of any questions I should ask them?

Re: Strength Training Question
Well that's encouraging. I was under the impression that one's ability to gain muscle had something to do with a hormone that we have in abundance as teenagers, but less and less of of as we age. And that our strength decreases by something like 10% every decade after the age of 20. Especially If we...

Strength Training Question
I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that they gave some 80 and 90 year old nuns some exercises to do and they were able to increase their strength by 10% pretty quickly. I've been told that how much muscle you can put on and how long it will take is a pretty individual thing. But....... does anyone hav...

Re: What do you get out of Running?
Well said Avis. I like that. They say that the best exercise is the one you are prepared to do. For many years all I was prepared to do was run. But I dislocated a toe and I could no longer run the distances I had in the past or run with the same frequency, so long story short I ended up in swimming...

Re: What do you get out of Running?
Phorunner I encourage you to stick with it once your injury has healed. In my own experience maybe the best part of running is the endless series of adjustments that you are required to make to stay with it over the years. Change can be difficult but it can also be enlightening. I used to run with a...

Re: What do you get out of Running?
That's what I'm talking about. DSL I'll share another story. Three or four years ago I was running up what they call The Caleche Trail on Mount Royal, in the Fall. It was sunrise and you get that sort of flat yellow light at that time of year. For some reason that year all the leaves had turned some...

What do you get out of Running?
I went for a Jog this morning and The Sunshine was Glorious. Years ago I started to run because I was told that it was a cheap and easy way to lose a few pounds. I thought I’ll do this thing for a few weeks, maybe even a couple of months. I should be able to handle that. It looked kind of boring to ...
