Currently -15C in Yellowknife, the tempertures remain seasonally well above the norm for this time of year (-25 to -40C). My winter gear is packed for my move so I am headed into the gym for Hills, while not as nice on a treadmill, they are still important. Looking forward to Sunday when I get to Bl...

Will be headed to the TM for a tempo run very soon, going to give my new orthotics a spin, through compared to my last orthotics the guy that made them did a shoddy job. He is brought in by the hospital to do them from Edmonton, the last pair I got done was from a local who has moved her practice so...

Steady 2.75 mile run today, did six miles yesterday, Weather is still holding nicely in Yellowknife, this month has been more like April weather rather then February Weather. Which is a treat as -15 is better than -30

Interval training for me today, 400 meter intervals at a little better than race pace. Very comfortable pace, the question is how fast is my 5km race going to be in reality.

Re: What's going on for Thursday?
Tempo run today, that is what is on tap. Weather in Yellowknife remains warmer then this time of year is typically. The fact that we have made it though February with no -40C weather is amazing. Yellowknife holds the record for being the Canadian City as having 36 consecutive days under -40C. Not a ...

Interval training for me, 2.5km doing 400 meter intervals at race pace. They felt good, through a bit tired on the last one, Trying to get used to running faster now, with Tempo runs and intervals thrown in now. While not super fast, I would like to break 30 minutes for 5km on March 3rd. it will be ...

Heck in yellowknife at -20C we think it is spring. I constantly have to do a reality check and tell myself "in what universe is -20C a nice day"

Re: ING New York City Marathon 2012 Application
Bed Bugs are not the only problem in NYC, we stayed at a hotel on the west side last time and the 'clean sheets' had a freaking skid mark on them, someone obviously sat bare assed on the clean sheets to get dressed or something and left a little something behind, it was disgusting. Considering you a...

Re: What do you get out of Running?
Personally I have a number of reasons why I run, when I started running again at age 47 I was 300lbs plus and quite overweight. I was diagnosed with TYPE 2 diabetes and my doctor said, change my lifestyle or die young. So I chose to change my life style, when given the opportunity to speak to groups...

First post here at RM in ages, Today is a balmy -22C here in Yellowknife, I have less than two weeks remaining before my move to Bloomington IL., Very excited and scared at the same time to move to a job in the States, but I am confident that things are going to work out. I am still running, and get...

Re: Natural Running Mechanics Q & A
After an injury last year (partial Tear of my Achilles Tendon) I have been working on changing from a heel strike to a mid-foot strike. I was able to take a Chi Running seminar back in May 2011, even through it was only about 3 -4 weeks after I was out of the cast. The idea was to see if Chi Running...

Re: Monday Stat Holiday, Yeah Right !!
Family day, really, what type of holiday is that, here in the Territories family day is every day. Today is suppose to be a rest day, but the weather is suppose to get above -20C today so therefore I will time shift a run because I don't get outside very often in that colder weather. Yesterday I did...

LSD Sunday, extending my run out to 10K to day, slowly working my way towards a marathon in August, but with a detour to the K100 in the spring (if the team is selected). I am determined to do a marathon this year. So far I am not plagued with nagging injuries that kept me from racing last year. I a...

Re: Interesting article on orthotics
I use them, I suffered from back issues when I was running, and decided to try them. Through I only use them when I am running, it seems to have worked no more back pain due to running. I think the point made in the article about if the patient feels good and it helps is the key.

I am wrestling with this a bit this year. After coming off a bad year for injuries and Arthritis I am finally been able to get back on the road consistently at the end of October last year.
