Re: Running Gear - South of the border

I buy all of my running shoes in the US. I am all for supporting the local retailer, however, I typically get savings of at least 1/2 the cost by cross border shopping. I either go through Holabird as I wear Mizunos or get a family member or friend who is travelling to add to my supply for me. If th...

Congrats on a great race - to the last post.... You have great speed, however, as opposed to being blessed with it, I think you, more than anyone, have worked extremely hard to develop it. Again, congratulations on seeing the fruits of your labour.

I just discovered this thread.... perhaps because I am in denial that I am a Master. Despite being 44, I feel 25. As to how many times per week I run, it currently ranges between 4 -6. I am in the final stages of training for Boston and am trying to listen to my body as much as possible. For a while...

I am by now means an expert and would certainly defer to the two gentlemen that posted ahead of me, but I will add my 2 cents anyway. For the money, I find the Guide to be a very serviceable shoe... but of course that is dependent on the architecture of your foot. As an extremely mild pronator, I fi...

Good points ian. I may skip it. I want to use a tune-up race to better gauge my fitness and anticipated pace. After a Winter of base building I would like to see where I stand - if things have changed in terms of my fitness since last Fall. So running at anticipated marathon pace, in this case, does...

Tune-up for marathon. Is this too close to race day

I am looking at running a tune-up race prior to running a marathon in the not-too-distant future. I have seen a race that is 25 K that is 3 weeks out from the race day.

Question - is this too close to the actual race, or too long a distance?

Opinions would be appreciated.

Thanks!!

Nothing more to add to what has already been said.

Congrats on fighting through and finishing!!! To finish any marathon is an accomplishment - more so when facing heat issues like in Chicago.
