Re: The new Ryan Hall
With my measly 2-3 hours/week of strength and not adding in tons of protein rich food, I can see muscles that I didn't know were there. I don't think it's so far fetched that someone who is dedicated and puts in hours of training each day could realistically make a transformation in that short time...

Re: The new Ryan Hall
i'm not surprised that someone could gain that much muscle, but i am surprised that someone with chronically low testosterone levels could gain that quickly. the january 2016 article said, "Supplemental testosterone is a banned substance, but Hall would be eligible for a medical waiver if he wa...

Re: The new Ryan Hall
I can't help but wonder... He quit professional running because he couldn't train hard because of chronically low testosterone. Then in four months he makes these pretty dramatic body transformations? Is that normal to happen so quickly? I would hope that all he's taking is medically approved hormo...

Re: Ottawa Half Marathon Bib available for transfer
Looks like I'm out of luck. Deadline is midnight tonight, but the transfer button seems to be missing from the registration page. do you mean the button is missing from your email? that's where it says it should be: "A transfer can be completed by going to your confirmation email and clicking ...

i do carry my phone for safety, though. in the study i read, participants were asked to carry a smartphone and take pictures of things that caught their eye along the way (to prove to researchers that they had actually don't the walk, although they didn't know that was the point). so i don't think ...

Re: David Suzuki's 30x30 Challenge for May
i'm in the "already doing this" boat (hence my move to a cabin in the woods). i read a really interesting study about the differences between walking for 90 minutes in nature and walking along the sidewalk, and how much better the former is for your mental health. interestingly, to me, the...

Re: Did She or Didn't She Run Boston 2016??
Another thing that occurred to me is that if the training, etc is the thing, then why have an organized race. No red lights or stop signs. :) jono And races are fun. :) And give me a different sense of satisfaction than just a run. It doesn't have the be the same for everyone, but there are obvious...

The link doesn't work for me. Has the post been taken down? yeah, looks like it's been taken down - but the cached version lives on! i'm the odd duck, but i could totally understand why someone would cheat to run boston. and how they would still enjoy it. i mean, the roar of crowds as you're down boylston isn't dimmer just because you cheated to get there. sure, you're only getting the thrill of running the race and a lifetime o...

Re: Fitbit Class Action - inaccurate heart rate monitor
Interesting. I didn't know that. Not really a laughing matter. Curious that there isn't a preventative health kit that is marketed for men. it hasn't been marketed for men because the test isn't particularly accurate - i.e., it will miss the majority of testicular cancers, and test positive for som...

Re: Pistorius charged with murder!
One thing that makes this VERY different than anything we know, is that here in and in the US the prosecution cannot appeal a conviction - only the defense. At least that's my understanding. Well that and the whole jury system thing.  are you sure? i've spent more time googling the law t...

Re: Pistorius charged with murder!
I think it's a case of SA law being different than Canadian law. Even if it was an intruder, it didn't matter. In Canada, you could claim self-defence (I didn't know it was her, I thought it was a burglar!), whereas in SA you can't. yes, it does seem to be different. that said, i'm not sure you wou...
