96th Boxing Day 10 & 4 mile runs Hamilton

Postby bigguy » Tue Nov 15, 2016 4:08 pm

Many maniacs have done this event over the years. This year all entrants receive a pair of made in Hamilton snowman mitts at bib pickup. Then a custom snowman finishers medal and a fleece blanket after they cross the finish line. Staged out of the YMCA in downtown Hamilton means that there is indoor registration, refreshments and awards in the main gymnasium at the YMCA where spectators are welcome. Change rooms with showers for entrants. A scenic course of downtown streets and paved waterfront trail. Real washrooms at the GO station next to the start line. This also means that Greater Toronto people can take the GO train right to the YMCA. The run is put on by the volunteers of the Hamilton Harriers Running and Walking Club. $5,000 is annually donated to the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign which supports local children. There is also a $3,000 cash purse which attracts some of the best runners in Canada. In 2015 we had three runners who have represented Canada in the 2012 or 2016 Olympics.
