I have no idea how fast I can walk -- I try to go at a good clip but I don't think I am super fast. My friends, Bob and Donna (Donna posts on here occasionally) are fast. They did 5K at Longboat in September in 42:40. That was with absolutely no running, all walking. I think that is FAST. When I have walked with them, I have had to do little bursts of running to keep up!

Don't know speed...but I do know I am a fast walker...always have been all my life...I often get teased about how quickly I walk...

What can I say...I'm like my mother who at age ...almost 86...still walks briskly...

I've been accused of walking so fast because I have short little legs and I therefore have to compensate. Hey! I am a woman on a mission, no matter where I'm going! Is there something wrong with that?

I walk fast!!! I like to exercise when I walk and being a runner, I have to walk pretty darn fast to get much exercise from walking!

Roughly 10 minute kilometers. I think I'm a pretty quick walker, some of the neighbours have commented that they see me walking Matthew around the neighbourhood like a maniac :)

I keep being told that if I could translate my walking speed into running speed, I could be in the Olympics!

I think that I walk pretty fast... when I have my Garmin on & I'm walking to the R. Room I walk about 8:40-9:00 k's

that's fast in my mind anyhoooo

When I used to walk 5K at lunch, we usually did it in 42-47 minutes, so that translates about right...

In our Disney Marathon training, eric and I and my mom have been walking at 15:00/mile pace. It's really brisk! When we're on an easy walk, we clip along at about a 16:30/mile pace.

I am such a slow walker, unless I'm cold or angry! I stroll more than I walk. In races however when I'm taking a walk break the garmin usually says 10 minutes per K which is, I guess, a 16 minute mile. I feel like I'm walking with AGGRESSION.

Average walking (to work, etc) is about 10 minutes per km. Sometimes a little faster (when I am late, i.e. on the way to work) and sometimes slower.

I ususally have a pace of about 10 mins/km. Any faster than that is like when I did the PEI marathon I did 9:34. for the 10Km Walk.

I, personally, feel any faster than 10min in the winter walking is a bit risky for injury unless the streets are absolutely clear of ice/snow. When I hit the streets again I'll go for the 10min pace.

If you have trouble breathing through yr nose in winter-walking try putting a scarf or neck-warmer over your mouth and nose I find this helps. (suggested by my doctor two years ago :) )

Good luck all,
Karen

I walk at around 8:30 - 9 minutes / km, I am actually starting a walking training plan as part of my cross-training regime. I will be walking roughly 24-30km per week.

I am a fairly fast walker. On the treadmill, I can walk without much effort at 4.5mph (roughly 8:20min/k). Outside, my commuting pace is probably around 9-9:30min/k.
I run because it's fun.

In another life:
3 marathons including Boston twice (PB: 3:47), 6 halfs (PB: 1:45), 6 10k (PB: 46:41) and 3 5ks (PB: 21:00)

I should never have looked - some of you people walk as fast or almost as fast as I 'run'
