Ouch! good grief stupid accident!

Postby KaTyBrown » Sat Jun 24, 2006 9:48 pm

Can you believe this? I was closing the garage door today and down it comes with my thumb between the sections of the door
I now have a purple thumb, don't know what will happen with the nail. and we went out for supper.
This happened as we were leaving and all dressed up - Boy did I look cute with a plastic glass full of thumb and ice cubes.
I decided to have fish tonight as I did not have to cut it with a knife

Have a good day folks!

Karen

owwwwwwwwwwwwww

I can almost feel that.

Keep icing it... also, injuries are good for garnering sympathy from the people around you. Be sure to milk that for all it's worth!

I think it will be at LEAST a month before your thumb is functional again. Maybe 2 or three months, just to be sure. You wouldn't want to make it worse.

Dear Katybrown,
This morning you were the highlight of my run. There i was, running free before the town awakes. Listening to beautiful Dvojak cello concerto play by Yoyo. This music really moves me. I had just passed 2 ladies walking in a very fast pace. Well one was walking and the other...running!
Then i started thinking about what you're doing for that walking group. How awesome it is! what you are giving them! A dream, a goal, a purpose, an accomplishment. I started to have goose bumps all over my body! Yes i was sweating like a ....and i had goose bumps!! :? :D And this is a real story!!!!
Sincerely!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yikes! Thanks a bunch for the compliment. I am not really doing all that much, each in their own way are doing the best for themselves, I am just trying to guide them in the right direction.

Hey - do you guys know how hard it is to press the spacebar on the keyboard with your left thumb when you are sooooo used to the right thumb :? I have polish in the nail and am not really anxious to take it off - wonder what the colour is underneath the polish...pale blue perhaps?

I've heard rumors that large quantities of ice cream following your long walks help in the rehabilitation! Eaten with the noninjured hand, of course!

you have to get two icecreams. You can eat one, and soak your injured thumb in the other.

That is excellent news! Icecream hmmm who would have thought! Can it be good for other types of injuries or is it just for black finger nails?

Got brave this afternoon and took of the polish!

Only a lovely colour of pale blue so won't lose the nail
but will still have the ice cream with strawberries and chocolate sauce for dessert tonight - yummmmyyy...

Thanks all for your funny responses, comments and mostly sympathy. Sounds like you all have done dumb things like this in the past too.

if you ask my kids, they'll tell you I'm the Queen of Spaz. sigh, liked them better before we taught them to speak!

and keep in mind that the gentle stretching of your injured hand around a cone/sundae glass can be thought of as physio! On a more serious note, glad your injury isn't worse!!
