Yeah thats true. I guess some seasons it might work (someone running track then summer track). This is nice in theory if you know you're actually going to be running every meet of a season. If you'rre going into a season with slow base training you'll be out of the mix before you even get a chance to make any gains during the season.
Better to be in peak shape right from the start.
You can really only afford to do the gradual peaking process in a season that stretches out. Track and CC just aren't long enough to do that.
