Let's get this started!

Postby oobinsnaffa » Mon Jan 02, 2012 2:49 pm

So I haven't gone for a run in over a year. Tomorrow, I'm starting to run again, starting out nice & slow, and I've already signed up for my first race - A St. Patrick's Day 5k on March 17. Between now and then, I hope to work my way up from nothing to at least a decent interval. My goal is to finish and have a time to beat for my next race.

Bring it on.

Well, I did it, and I didn't pass out! 3.4km in 27m08s, doing run 1 walk 2. I am really, really happy that I got out despite the ridiculous day I've had, and my epic bad mood. Went just before dusk, it was about 5 degrees with a bit of a wind. I picked a circular route that was mostly a long slow uphill with a fast downhill about 75% of the way through, and I might try the reverse next time and see what I prefer. And it seemed that no matter what direction I was facing, I was running into a headwind, but it was at least a light wind! And huge thanks to a certain friend for coaching me through the layering process... I would have surely overdressed if I had been left to my own devices!
