I think that saying you run out of glycogen at 90 min is a little too soon.

I agree, I always thought that it was around 20 miles. I guess for elite runners it would be 90 minutes, but for us regular recreational runners it's definitely more than 90 minutes.

Doesn't it depend on intensity? Higher intensity workouts use more glycogen, and use it faster. That said, I've also been told (by an experienced triathlete who is also an MD) that "fat burns in a carbohydrate (i.e., glycogen) fire," so if you run out of glycogen, you won't be able to burn fat for fuel.

Think going very low carb / very high fat is the route to improved performance? You’re destined to lose to a better fueled athlete. The evidence that carbs are superior for performance is undeniable, and the concept of the “keto athlete” winning races is bogus. (Note: “keto” refers to a ketogenic diet that involves severe carbohydrate restriction of less than 50 grams per day, favoring high fat intake instead.)
