pizza in Toronto

Postby Robert » Wed Apr 12, 2006 2:47 pm

Thanks in large part to this picture BJH posted in another thread....
Image

....I was thinking about pizza in the centre of the universe.

Where does one find pizzas that look like the ones in that picture? All the pizza places I've tried in Toronto have pretty thin pizza. That is good, at times, but sometimes one wants something slightly more......hearty. It doesn't have to Chicago thick, mind you. Just something in between. Does it exist?

Pizza Hut? :?

In your neck of the woods, I would suggest Cora Pizza on Spadina near Harbord (west side). Some people also like Papa Gio's right next door to Cora. Or Pizza Gigi on Harbord, just west of Spadina.

There's also Sbarro, which is a chain, mostly located in food courts (Eaton Centre, for example).

Personally, I prefer the thin crust, so I always go to Mama's (310-MAMA).

That was my first thought, too.

I don't go out for pizza much and if I do order it out, it is usually only if it is thin crust.

The major delivery chains offer a thick crust option.

The Mamma's in my building? The Mamma's where the same guy handles the cash and makes the pizza? (Where's the barf emoticon?) Lisa likes that place too. :?

I missed Pizza Pizza so much when I lived in Calgary.

I don't like Pizza Hut. I used to like it when I was a kid, but it's too 'big chain - low quality'.

I've tried Gigi's Pizza. It's pretty good, although Gigi himself is a bit of an impatient punk.

I guess I'll just stick with thin crust.......or maybe skip it altogether after reading Dave's post.

Yeah, that place. I'm a non-germ-o-phobe. I really could care less about stuff like that. The pizza rocks, that's all I care about.

Oh no, don't tell me they've got to you Denis! I should've known they'd use a man of science to assuage us and get us to let down our guard.

Who? The germs, man, the germs. They're everywhere, and they're pissed. For millenia we've ruled the Earth, relegating them to bathroom door handles and public telephone receivers. But now they're making their move...

And let me tell you something. The government is in on it too.

Pardon me if I blow your mind, but Purell... is PEOPLE!!

It's true! At night, they take the nastiest, filthiest criminals in Milhaven, puree them, throw a label on the bottle, and sell it back to us. You think that you're fighting the germs when you pour that stuff on your palm? Don't kid yourself. You're only nourishing the germs.

Don't sleep on this folks. The invasion has begun!

If anyone needs me, I'll be on Ruby Ridge.

A little taper madness Dave? Does this mean you're doing the full marathon in Waterloo afterall?

Dave, did you get the plans for your tinfoil hat online or did you design your own?

Ugh! Why won't anyone believe me!!

And all of you who say "But Dave, exposure to germs will boost your immune system"... that's just Stockholm Syndrome! Don't believe it.

I'm telling you, there's a storm brewing. The germs are laying in wait, biding their time inside Paris Hilton's *******.

One day you'll all come crying to me saying "You were right all along", but my laugh will be muffled by the huuuh....pshhhh....huuuh...pshhhh of my Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus.

You'll have to cut the pizza into pretty small chunks to suck it up through your breathing tube, Dave....

Now you'd think that a germophobe like Dave would be really, really good about keeping the kitchen and bathroom clean, wouldn't you?

Can you guess who does the cleaning in our place and who does it only when begged to?

Dave, if you're trying to avoid germs, what are you going to do about the ones that are already on you ... and in you ... and growing in the Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus ...

"keep your friends close and your enemies closer" That's what I always say...

The enemy is within our midst. We must remain ever-vigilant, and beat back these marauding hordes.

We have to stick together people. Well not literally... we actually shouldn't make physical contact with eachother at all. But you know what I mean. How does that saying go? "You Chlorox my back, I'll Chlorox yours."

Hey when and for how long did you live in Calgary?! 8)

I remember seeing something that said the average toilet seat had less germs on it than the telephone on your desk... not that I would touch my ear to a toilet seat...
